B Hatsu Tataki-ai: First Shinto Festival Music Competition

Festival floats with doll on top (Dashi) and festival floats without doll (Yatai) from all 12 neighborhoods gather together at Hoshikawa Street and parade toward Kumagaya Station, where the first Shinto festival music competition is held. In the evening, with white firefighter’s banner (Matoi) from each neighborhood waving in front of the latern lit Dashis and Yatais, and they parade toward Kumagaya station East Entrance parading via Hoshikawa Street and Ekimae Street, led by the Dashi or Yatai from the neighborhood representing the year. Then, Dashis and Yatais parade through East Entrance Rotary towards the Kumagaya Station North Entrance Square. All the Dashis and Yatais line up in single file with their backs to Kumagaya Station, and the “First Shinto Festival Music Competition (Hatsu Tataki-ai)” begins, played by a lively traditional Japanese band (Ohayashi).
